Freshening up a bit.

"Would you like a little Spackle with that dear?"
Spring just seems like the perfect time to freshen things up a bit. We decided to repaint several rooms in our house. I think several other people had that same idea, for the lines at the paint department, in Lowe's, resembled the lines at King's Island on spring break. :-o  I was hoping to get back into a normal routine this week with school and house work. Then I decided to paint....
Oh well...at least the pressure is off to try and get my house in tip top shape this week. LOL...At this point I am just hoping to be able to find my coffee pot in the morning.

Forgetting and becoming weary....

Sometimes the dark can be so thick, I forget their is light up ahead, if I just look.
Sometimes I feel like the Lord is speeding up my Christian growth, by piling "it" on all at once.
Sometimes I forget what this life is really about, and want to wallow in self pity.
Sometimes I get weary...

Sometimes I forget what is important, and loose track of the finish line.
Sometimes I forget who I am in Christ, and want to revert back to my "old" self.
Sometimes I forget that three little girls are watching me, to see how to handle "bad news."
Sometimes I get weary...

Then I remember that God can not be moved. He is still there. There are days I wonder what He is doing, but he is still watching over me and will see me through. He loves me and sees my laughter, along with my tears. He sends something my way to remind me. It could be a dear friend reminding me that the Lord sees what I am doing for Him, even if nobody else does. It could be a sweet daughter telling me she loves me and appreciates me, for who I am. It could be a song that was sung at just the right moment that I remembered. Yes. I remembered that I don't have to be weary. It might be this song that He uses....

Through the eyes of a child

To see life through the eyes of a child, is such a blessing.
Mud holes are not looked upon, as a disaster in the yard.
They are treasured for all of the adventures, that can be had in them.
Playhouses are not outgrown. They evolve into a perfect reading spot in Jammies.
Chicken coops are not just visited during chore time.
They serve as a great hang out area, safe from the rooster.
Pruning and raking, are not what comes to their minds when they see a tree.
Instead they are viewed as a challenge, and try to see who can climb the farthest.
Not to be too competitive though,
every one can use a helping hand once in awhile.
Yards are not looked upon, with projects of reseeding and mowing in mind.
Oh no. They are looked upon as being the perfect spot,
to spend some quality time with their favorite people, and  a good book.
Sheets and towels do not bring to mind, washing and hanging out on the line.
Instead, they are thought of as the perfect thing to wrap oneself up in, and roll around.
Sometimes we as adults, loose perspective.
I don't know about you...but I would much rather see life, through the eyes of a child!

60th day!!!!!!!

This day could not have come soon enough. Today marks the 60th day of Legislature, which I have been proofreading for. My days have been long. My nights, even longer. I feel like I have been running a marathon, in which I needed to pace myself accordingly. Some days I planned too much, and felt like giving up. Some days we pretty much did nothing, and stayed in P.J.'s all day. I just found out a couple of weeks ago, that after tonight, I will have to work day shift for a couple of weeks. So, even though the job is not completely over tonight, I still feel like I have accomplished something huge, and feel like celebrating! Think I'll commemorate this momentous occasion, by doing NOTHING today! ;-)

Ten Years of Grace

Happy birthday to my sweet little Princess. You are ten years old today. I can hardly believe it's true. It seems like just yesterday I was a brand new mom, and trying to figure out what in the world to do with a baby. This week brought up a lot of questions from you. You wanted to know everything about your birth, how much you weighed, etc. Ok, here goes...

Your Daddy and I had planned on having a natural birth, at the birth center in Teays Valley, WV. It did not end up that way, and I have no regrets. There were complications during my labor with you, and an emergency C section had to be performed at Putnam General Hospital. I was put to sleep, and the next thing I knew, I woke up to your grandparents holding you. We both survived...that is what matters. You weighed in at a whopping 7 pounds and 2.5 oz. We won't go into what I weighed in at. :-o Let's just say cookies were my friend during the WHOLE pregnancy! You were 21 inches long and had dark beautiful hair, just like your daddy! Daddy and I were so excited and terrified at the same time! I was 21 and he was 22.

As I look back and try to remember the events of that day, I can't help but wonder what you will remember about this day. Your tenth birthday. Will you remember shopping alone with mommy, to buy the treats for this day? How we held hands walking through the Walmart parking lot. You were holding you new American doll that you had waited for, for two years. I was holding your tiny hand, which keeps growing faster than I want.

Will you remember making little treat bags with me, to give to your sisters and good buddies? Or will it be the memory of helping me decorate one of your cakes? Yes, I said one. You ended up having three different cakes. With a sick sister, things got postponed, and we couldn't let the cakes go to waste. I will be on a diet next week! :-o

Will you remember that on this day, your overprotective mother said that you could finally give up your booster seat? You were so excited to show that your feet finally touched, the floor of the car. You didn't know it, but I saw you smiling from ear to ear, and I knew that you felt like you achieved something really cool!

Will you remember that Mommy and Daddy took you to Billy Bob's Pizza Wonderland? The only place that you said you wanted to go. We had our good friends join us for a day of fun and laughter. They wanted to show you how special you are, so they made your name in Lego's.

Will you remember just how cool your parents were, and that they rocked at Laser tag? Who thought 12 minutes could be that much fun?!
I am not sure what you will remember about this day. I know that I will remember the mixed emotions I had though. I love to see you growing up and turning into a beautiful young lady, inside and out! I love watching you really think about God in ways, that I still haven't been able to do. How you want to please Him more and more. I love your joy and excitement for new things, and how you can make just about anything fun. I never knew having a ten year old would be this much fun....or come so fast.
I hope you never loose you sense of adventure and wonder, for the things God has made. We love you so much and are very proud of you! Thank you for what you bring to this family!! You truly are a joy!

Little bit of a tropical paradise...

I have been dreaming of white beaches and blue oceans. I love the mountains, but wouldn't mind visiting some tropical paradise about right now. The colder temperatures that snuck in the other day, brought snow. I love snow, but I think we have had enough for a bit. :-)

Couldn't manage a tropical get away this week, so we just pretended. ;-)
Coconut milk
orange juice
pineapple
banana
Vitamin C packet
I also threw in some fresh strawberries for color.

Funny. I always envisioned us dressing a little better while in the tropics, and without a child who has a virus. Maybe next time! ;-)
